08/09/2011 - Nottingham is always worth a journey - especially this September

From September 20th – 21st 2011 the Joint Virtual Reality conference JVRC will take place at the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus and is hosted by the Human Factors Research Group - VIRART (Virtual Reality Applications Research Team) and the MRL (Mixed Reality Lab) at the University of Nottingham.

The conference continues the collaboration formed in 2009 between the renowned Conference and Exhibition of the European Association of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (EuroVR) and the well-established Eurographics Symposium on Virtual Environments (EGVE). The conference focusses on virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality and 3D user interfaces and invites developers, suppliers and researchers to exchange knowledge, share experiences and foster collaborations.

Besides the elaborate program, the conference features an open Wow-Factor competition featuring impressive demonstrations and EuroVR meetings for members and Special Interest Groups (Design Engineering and Manufacturing (DEM) SIG and Haptics SIG).

Two incentive key notes will be given by Dennis Saluäär from Volvo Technology Sweden and Prof. Mel Slater from The University of Barcelona, Spain / University College London, UK. The conference program is divided in two tracks, a scientific and an industrial track. The scientific track consists of presentations of original, unpublished short and long research papers and their subsequent discussion. The industrial track focusses on presentations and two workshops relating to industrial applications and technologies. On Tuesday September 20th, 2011 there will be a workshop on “VR/AR/MR and the future of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)”. On Wednesday, September 21st, 2011 the “Accessibility Engineering with User Models, Simulation and VR” takes place.

JVRC is organised and reviewed by a high-profile scientific committee consisting of international researchers and experts.

20/09/2010 - GRAPP and JVRB continue their co-coperation in 2011

We are glad to annouce that the international conference GRAPP (International Conference on Computer Graphics Theory and Applications) and JVRB are continuing their successful co-operation in 2011 with a Special Issue featuring a selection of invited peer-reviewed articles from the conference.

JVRB welcomes Prof. Paul Richard of the University of Angers, France, as guest editor for the Special Issue on the Conference. He is supervising GRAPP 2011 as program chair. The conference will be structured along five tracks from the areas of geometry and modelling, rendering, animation and simulation and interactive environment. As new area of interest, the fifth track “social agents in computer graphics” has been added.

05/10/2009 - Follow jvrb_org on Twitter

JVRB has joined the social network Twitter (www.twitter.com) with a microblog for the Journal’s events, article releases and news. Thereby, the Journal invites researchers, authors, and developers from the field of Virtual Reality, Broadcasting and related fields to join, comment on and discuss the publication. Twitter offers a public, real-time medium for fast exchange and dissemination of information. The user can now participate not only via an internet browser but also by phone or from the computer desktop.

Twitter provides a blogging environment in which registered users may post small messages (limited to 140 characters) to their subscribers (“followers” in twitter jargon). Many public institutions like universities, libraries, research institutes and also conferences already use it as communication tool.
