In this article, the interactivebroadcasting process is broadly defined to includestudio technology and digital TV applicationsat consumer set-top boxes. In particular, augmentedreality studio technology employs smart-projectors aslight sources and blends real scenes with interactivecomputer graphics that are controlled at end-user terminals.Moreover, TV producer-friendly multimediaauthoring tools empower the development of novel TVformats. Finally, the support for user-contributed contentraises the potential to revolutionize the hierarchicalTV production process, by introducing the vieweras part of content delivery chain. ER
