Everything about open licencing models "Open Content – A practical guide to using Creative Commons licences"

The guide addresses an international audience and encourages the use of more open licences for publications to support the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

„Open Content – A practical guide to using Creative Commons licences” has been published by the German UNESCO commission, Wikimedia Germany, and the Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (hbz). The hbz is an active actor in the open access movement: It is currently hosting eighteen open access e-journals – one of the first publications hosted within the scope of the initiative was the Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting.

The author Dr. Till Kreutzer (lawyer, iRights.law) has also edited the open access Digital Peer Publishing Licence used by JVRB. In this guide, he now informs originators and users of content about their rights and obligation when using open licensing models.

Open licences make it easier to access information and support the creative use of digital goods. The guide explains the legal background and grants practical advice e.g. concerning the choice of the appropriate licence type and the online search for texts, images, and videos under open licences.
