14th Symposium on Haptic Interfaces for Virtual Environment and Teleoperator Systems
SymposiumArlington, Virginia, USA
from Saturday, Mar. 25, 2006
to Sunday, Mar. 26, 2006
About the Symposium
The Symposium is part of the IEEE Virtual Reality 2006. Haptic interfaces are devices that allow human-machine interaction through force and touch. Areas of application include, but are by no means limited to: Telemanipulation - for work in hazardous or challenging environments such as: Space exploration; Undersea operations; Microsurgery and minimally-invasive surgery; Hazardous waste clean-up. Virtual environments - for realistic interactions with computer simulations in: Critical procedure training; Architectural design; Product prototyping; Data visualization; Human Computer Interaction. This symposium aims to bring together the diverse disciplines that will contribute to future advances in this field, including biomechanics, psychology, neurophysiology, engineering, and computer science. Topics of interest include, and are not limited to: Human factors; Psychophysics and perception; Biomechanics and motor control; Mechanism design; Control system design and analysis; Dynamics; Haptic rendering and world modeling algorithms.
