About the Workshop
The 2005 International Workshop on Engineering and Music (E & M) is the 2nd workshop focussing on particular trans-disciplinary views between music and engineering and follows the first international E & M workshop on "Human Supervision and Control in Engineering and Music" in Kassel, Germany in September 2001. The first workshop in Kassel was a four-day symposium with an embedded orchestra concert. It was a great success and created many good results with the Online-Proceedings under www.EngineeringAndMusic.de and two Special Issues (see abstracts of the Journal of New Music Research and of the Proceedings of the IEEE). The 2nd workshop is hosted at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada on May 25, 2005, and consists of only a one-day event preceding the three-day International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) 2005 held on May 26-28, 2005.
