Language

The Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting exclusively publishes in the English language. English abstracts and keywords are mandatory.

File Formats

Submit your manuscript in a common file format like tex, rtf, pdf or xml. Please do not use formats limited to proprietary software. Your article is being exchanged between jvrb members and reviewers, so make sure to use a portable file format.

If you are using tex as typesetting solution, chose the document type "article" with options 11pt, A4 paper and 2-column. You may use the tex-template file offered by jvrb in the Additional Material section of this page.

Titlepage

The title page should include the following items: the complete title of the article; the line "Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting, Volume n, whereby n indicates the number of volume the article is to appear in; the volume number equals the year in which the article is published. The issue number is assigned after the acception of the article for publication; author and co-authors listed by surname and first name; author's affiliations; complete mailing information, including e-mail-addresses, web-addresses, and phone numbers. If the article has been presented elsewhere, for example at a conference, please, make an annotation and add the line “First presented at (the conference xy), extended and revised for JVRB”. The appropriate position for this remark can be derived from the jvrb template.

Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should be a condensed extract of the article containing the most central issues. You should provide useful and precise keywords to help categorize the article and make it indexable and searchable in the respective databases.

Section and Numbering

Use numbered sections and subsections with Arabic numerals. The first section of the article should be the introduction outlining the starting point. The acknowledgement's section at the end of an article serves to mention facilities, laboratories, consortiums, and other contributors involved. Otherwise, sections may be arranged according to the type of article. Thus, Industrial Case Studies may have a section which is entitled "case description". Results of Research Articles should be summarized in a "conclusion" section. In any case, you should structure your manuscript properly in order to facilitate the reading process and to ensure a proper understanding.

Captions

Captions should be positioned below figures and tables along with a number that identifies the object like "Figure 1:" or "Table 1:". The full-stop is followed by the caption text. Refer to figures and tables in the main text by explicit references like "see Figure 1 for details". You may use hyper-references in your document like hyperlinks or the latex-hyperref-package for referencing other objects. The Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting is published in electronic form only and supports these techniques.

Volume and Issue Number

The volume number is made up of its consecutive number and year of publication, which are separated by a period. One year generally represents a single volume. The issue number is equivalent with the article number. jvrb is not organized according to issues, rather, published articles within a single volume are numbered consecutively, beginning with "1". Articles published in jvrb would be referenced following the example: 1.2004,1.

Headings

Articles should consist of single pages. The pages' head sections should display the page number, the title of the journal plus volume and article numbers. Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be supplied with the article number, which will be incorporated into the manuscript after the review process.

References

Literature cited in the text should be listed at the end of the article, in the "Reference" section. Citations within the text should be indicated by square brackets which contain the abbreviated surname of the author cited, and the year of publication. For instance, the book "Cyril M. Harris, Handbook of acoustical measurements and noise control, McGraw-Hill, 1991, isbn 0-07-026868-1" would be indexed as "[Har91]". Entries should be arranged alphabetically. If you are using latex as your typesetting system in combination with bibTeX, you may apply the "amsalpha"-bibliography style to your document. Authors' first names may not be abbreviated. All cited authors must be listed. The last entry should be separated by "and". Titles should be in italics and lower case letters, except for initial letters and letters following a full stop. Page ranges should be indexed by a long dash like "123—456". There should be no spaces between page numbers and dash. Entries are followed by a stop. Uppercase letters that are grouped like in "ISBN" should appear as small-capitals like "isbn".

Graphics

Graphics may be submitted in common open file formats like eps, gif, jpeg, png, or tif. If you are using a file format that embeds graphics in your text document, do make sure to submit an extra copy of these files. Keep in mind that all articles are electronically published and graphics are converted into a format suitable for the internet.

In case, you need advice creating scientific illustrations, please, consider our guide.

Open URL

After an article has been accepted for publication, authors are provided by jvrb with Open URL references, which are then to be added to the bibliography section of the article. Open URL links bibliographical entries to a web server, which provides further information and services for the selected source, such as availability queries in local libraries.
